What is a Precinct Committeeman

A Precinct Committeeman (PC) is your Republican Party representative and is the contact between voters, candidates, and elected officials. In Ada County District 14, I serve Precinct 1417 which encompasses the neighborhoods of Island Woods, Rivers End, Williamson River Ranch, Hidden Island, Laguna Pointe, and Lakemoor.

Precinct Committeemen (PCs) should be committed, patriotic, “grassroots” volunteers, not lobbyists, power brokers, or those who support the political establishment and career politicians.  A PC’s job is to educate Republican voters in their precincts and ensure those voters cast their informed votes in each election. A PC must have the time to dedicate to this position!

Only Precinct Committeemen are eligible to vote in the elections of internal Party leadership, the elections for District, County, & State leaders as well as Delegates to State Party conventions. Our local Republican Party has good constitutional conservatives who are willing to take positions of Party leadership, but they won’t get elected to those positions unless the Party has a solid majority of conservative Precinct Committeemen.

These leaders determine the direction of the Party and the policies and positions included in the Republican Party platform, which is reviewed and revised every four years. Precinct Committeemen are a key element of representative government.

In many cases, a Republican Precinct Committeeman might be the only party official a voter ever meets in person.  It is my honor to serve as your Precinct Committeeman for District 14, Precinct 1417!
